MHRF is planning a start-up vertical farming pilot scheme, allowing us to produce more crops from the same square footage of growing area in a mixed property development estate. Vertical farming is most suited to high value, perishable horticulture crops, such as greens, salad leaves and herbs or soft fruit, strawberries, tomatoes and other vegetables. A key advantage is that the artificial environment means there are no seasons; growing continues 24/7 every day of the year. Our scheme will range from R&D, training, planning, planting, harvesting, processing and delivering to shelf for consumers. Encouraging new entrants into farming to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture. We look forward to providing this new method of sustainable farming nationwide.
MHRF Garden Allotment is a plot of land that you rent from us on which you can grow your own food. Our allotments are communal places, where you share utilities such as water and fertilizer with the other plot owners. You may need to invest in a good set of basic tools, including a fork, spade, hand fork and trowel, string, gardening gloves, a hoe and a rake. This is more of a networking scheme for people of interest in gardening to build relationship in a friendly comfortable environment, sharing knowledge and experience to enhance their skills in their chosen hobby. You can get help with growing advice and may even swap seeds, plants and produce with other plot owners. It allowing you to be outside enjoying your garden! Better still form a Gardeners’ Club.
With food-conscious jet-setters on the rise, it’s no wonder that farm stays are increasing in popularity. After all, what could be more idyllic — or epitomise the “farm-to-table” movement more, for that matter — than enjoying your breakfast in the shade of the very orchard which produced the fruit in your juice and breakfast jam? Add in the fresh countryside air, the bucolic scenery, plus the feel-good emotions associated with partaking in sustainable “agritourism” and the charm of a farm stay is easy to understand.
It’s the ultimate chance to unwind and truly reconnect with nature, with many B&Bs offering guests unique activities such as fruit picking, cooking classes and tending to the livestock. But in case you were associating “farm” with bare-bones, rough-and-tumble accommodations, rest assured: Farm stays can be as stylish and swanky as their urban counterparts, as evidenced by these luxury farms around the world which invite you to hit the hay in 5-star surrounds.
